I am a practicing Lactation Consultant IBCLC, with a background of qualified physician (Medical Doctor).
My passion for working with mothers perinatally started as I became a mother of my two children. I earned my certification as an IBCLC (International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant) since early 2023.
Before coming to Australia, I worked as a General Practitioner. I completed my medical degree from Airlangga University Medical School in Surabaya (Indonesia) in 2009, then acquired a Master of Health Management degree from the University of New South Wales, Sydney. I have also passed my AMC (Australian Medical Council Exam) part 1 with process of future certification and qualification.
I left the practice of medicine to raise my two children. Having had the experience of starting motherhood without the close support of family and friends who live overseas, I deeply appreciate the significance of having trusted people and a support system/village in those periods after birth. I have been learning as I go to navigate the challenges and joys of motherhood. My moments of hurdles and wonders in breastfeeding my children and the journey to natural term weaning sparked my keen interest in understanding more about breastfeeding.
Learning more about breastfeeding led me to participate in breastfeeding support since 2017, both in a volunteer role and during my studies. In my mentoring studies toward certification, I gathered valuable experience learning, observing, and assisting mothers with concerns about the possible effect of oral tie restrictions on infant feeding. During both roles, I witnessed the profound impact of providing a safe space and support and evidence-based information on empowering other mothers in their breastfeeding journeys, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this cause.
I find purpose in uplifting mothers in these meaningful moments, supporting them to reconnect to their inner mother instincts, and advocating for the health and well-being of mothers and their children through breastfeeding, from infancy and beyond.
I am looking forward to continuing to empower and support you as mothers and your babies in your breastfeeding journeys.
